Sean Murphy (Fliway/UPS)

Sean is currently the National Border Clearance Manager for Fliway/ UPS responsible for all border clearance operations in Auckland and Christchurch covering both express through the UPS network and freight forwarding brokerage activity through the Fliway network.
 
Over 24 years industry experience in all facets of Border clearance, regulatory affairs and freight forwarding activity. Qualified pinned customs broker eligible to submit import and export customs declarations since 1996. In depth knowledge of the New Zealand customs working tariff, customs valuation and origin preference, free trade agreements, customs audits,  duty concession applications and  customs appeals, customs controlled areas and MPI transitional facilities.
 
Employed at Fliway International since March 1994 and previously employed within the shipping/stevedoring industry.
 
Facilitation committee member of CAPEC NZ (Conference of Asia Pacific Express Carriers) since 2004 and actively involved in various industry working groups including:
  • TCL (Tomorrows Cargo Logistics)
  • Air Cargo Council
  • NZ customs and MPI (ministry of primary industries) working groups for TSW (trade single window) and JBMS ( joint border management system) 
  • NZ customs / CBAFF (customs brokers and freight forwarders federation ) working group to improve industry training and customs pin qualification standards.
  • Customs and Excise Act review Stakeholders reference group.
 
Regulated air cargo approved and trained operator.
